So, if you have to go to a big family gathering this holiday, and you know you are going to get stuck conversing with some relative you barely know, I have some help for you, in the form of blind people who can see but don't know it.
Yeah, sure, starting a conversation, with the phrase, "I heard this story on NPR..." can make you sound (to some) like a pompous, overly liberal gasbag, but at least you won't get stuck talking to Great Grand Uncle Harold about his colonoscopy. (And I, for one, like overly liberal gasbags.)
